ABOUT US:

Welcome to our kennel, a labor of love and dedication built by my husband and me over the past few years. Our journey into breeding began with a clear and heartfelt mission: to breed healthy, happy companion dogs that bring joy and love into their forever homes.

Our top priority is the health and well-being of our Dams, Sires, and their puppies. We are deeply committed to ensuring that each dog in our care receives the highest level of attention, love, and medical care. This dedication to health and wellness is the cornerstone of our breeding program.

We have made a conscious decision to focus solely on producing companion dogs. As such, we do not sell breeding rights and all of our puppies come with limited AKC registration. This approach allows us to maintain the integrity of our breeding practices and ensures that our puppies are placed in loving homes where they can thrive as cherished family members.

We are acutely aware of the responsibilities that come with breeding and the broader issues of overbreeding and animal neglect. It is our firm conviction to contribute positively to the world of dog breeding by adhering to ethical practices and prioritizing the welfare of our dogs. We strive to be part of the solution, not the problem, by ensuring that every puppy we bring into the world is given the best possible start in life.

To stay at the forefront of best breeding practices, my husband and I take continuing education classes regularly. This ongoing education helps us remain informed about the latest advancements in canine health, genetics, and responsible breeding practices. We believe that continuous learning is essential to our commitment to excellence.

At our kennel, we strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our Elkhounds, ensuring that they are well-socialized and prepared for life as cherished family pets. We take pride in the temperament and socialization of our puppies, helping them to become well-rounded companions that bring joy and love to their new families.

We are here to support you every step of the way in your journey to bring a Norwegian Elkhound into your home. Whether you have questions about the breed, need guidance on training and care, or simply want to share the joys of owning an Elkhound, we are always just a phone call or email away.

Furthermore, we stand by our puppies for life. We always welcome the return of one of our puppies if a family cannot fulfill its needs or if it turns out not to be the right fit. Our ultimate goal is to ensure the happiness and well-being of each dog we bring into the world, and we are always here to support our puppy families, no matter the circumstance.

Thank you for considering one of our puppies to join your family. We are here to answer any questions you may have and to support you throughout the journey of bringing a new furry friend into your home.

Warm regards,
Dylan & Jessica Farmer

ABOUT ELKIES:

We encourage prospective Norwegian Elkhound buyers to thoroughly research the breed before committing. Elkhounds are intelligent, energetic, proud, independent, and love the outdoors. They are very affectionate and loving, making them the best loyal family companions you could ask for! However, Elkhounds can also be stubborn and shed heavily around twice a year (for 6 months at a time, as we like to joke). They don't do well in apartments or very small yards and, being bred for millennia to hunt, they may have a prey drive and tend to be explorers beyond their trained boundary. However, it is important to note that Norwegian Elkhounds are not naturally aggressive towards humans or other domestic animals. You can find more information & FAQs about elkhounds on the "links" page.

Norsk Elghund – Dog of the Vikings (www.neaa.com)

The Norwegian Elkhound is bold and energetic, a hardy gray hunting dog known for his lush silver-gray coat and dignified but friendly demeanor.

In appearance, a typical northern dog of medium size and substance, square in profile, close coupled and balanced in proportions. The head is broad with prick ears, and the tail is tightly curled and carried over the back. The distinctive gray coat is dense and smooth lying.

As a hunter, the Norwegian Elkhound has the courage, agility and stamina to hold moose and other big game at bay by barking and dodging attack, and the endurance to track for long hours in all weather over rough and varied terrain.

The durable Elkhound is among Europe’s oldest dogs. They sailed with the Vikings and figure in Norse art and legend.
